Art Submission Guidelines

Marble Surface

FALL 2021: We've decided to have rolling submissions for art. There won't be a hard deadline to submit -- rather, we'll just close the form when we have enough pieces AND/OR it's too close to the publication date. You should submit it as soon as possible because we could close the form at any moment!! Also, we may not provide feedback on late submissions. â€‹

General Submission Guidelines

  1. You may submit THREE pieces per semester if you are not a member of the club and FIVE pieces per semester if you are a member of the club. If you have a collection of works to choose from, please select the pieces that you believe are the best and fit the guidelines. This will make it easier for our judges to sort through submissions and give others opportunities to shine.

  2. Originality: Please make sure your work is actually your own: no plagiarism

    1. No completely copying any references found online.

    2. No submitting an image taken from the internet or a minimally modified/photoshopped version of an image taken from the web.

    3. Although we love fanart, we are not accepting it! Your piece is allowed to be inspired by something else, but make sure that your submission isn’t simply just an image of an existing person, character, or artwork with no other creative liberties added (i.e. no plain portraits).

    4. Basically: We should not be able to search up your submission and find it online! If you want to base your piece off of another artwork, you must submit the work of inspiration so that we can discern whether enough change was made.
    5. *Sculptures and Ceramics are an exception. As long as your work is not a carbon copy of another (or an obvious attempt at one), we will accept the submission. We will be focusing more on craftsmanship and attention to detail for these two genres.

  3. Inappropriate Content:

    1. We will NOT showcase works that are degrading, explicit, and/or disrespectful to individuals or communities. Any signs of racist, sexual, or overly violent themes will lead to us disregarding your submission.

      1. We can support pieces that call out societal problems, but we would need you to detail the meaning of the piece in your description so that we do not misinterpret your work.

  4. Please also read the guidelines for the genre of your specific submission!
